Common questions
Why isn’t the tuner responding?
Make sure microphone permission is granted in your device or browser settings. Tone needs microphone access to hear your instrument. Close and reopen the app after enabling permission.
Is the microphone audio recorded or sent anywhere?
No. Tone processes audio locally on your device in real time. Nothing is recorded, uploaded, or shared.
Can I change the reference pitch from A440?
Yes. Open the settings panel from the top-right corner and adjust the A4 reference frequency between 432 Hz and 445 Hz.
Which instruments are supported?
Tone is chromatic, so it works with any instrument. We also include built-in tunings for guitar, bass, ukulele, violin, and more. Choose your instrument from the top-left menu.
No account required
Tone does not require an account, subscription, or login. It is a single-purpose tool that works offline once loaded.
